Journeying With God
God is not lost or hiding. But because we are human, we sometimes lose track of our relationship to God. The purpose of the church is to help people to reconnect with God, to remind everyone that God loves us all, and to call us to use our gifts to participate in God’s work in the world.
At Edmonds Christian Church we believe that faith is a journey, and that we each have a path. Sometimes our path leads us through unfamiliar wilderness and desert. Sometimes, for a season, we may even lose the path or find ourselves in a dead-end. Sometimes our path will feel comfortable and familiar, as if we are returning home. Sometimes we must walk alone with God, and sometimes we are pilgrims journeying together. We have found that we learn, grow, and are strengthened by sharing our journeys with one another.
God is both the goal of our journey and the guide on our journey. The calling of Edmonds Christian Church is to help people discover the God who is beyond all things and yet as close as the air we breathe. We want to nurture the spiritual “seeing and hearing” that allows people to see the divine spark within themselves, as well as within others and within all of creation.
By practicing spiritual disciplines and traditions, we will seek to create a safe community where people can encounter and journey with God and one another. We know that God also calls on Edmonds Christian Church to use our gifts to create a safer and more just world. We believe that we are called to walk with God the path of prayer and justice. We will work to bring the world into alignment with God’s vision for Creation.
Edmonds Christian Church believes there are many paths to connect to God. Our particular community is grounded in the Christian faith. We are followers of Jesus and students of scripture. But, we believe our spiritual journeys can also be enriched by learning about the faith journeys of other traditions as well as by digging deep into the roots of our own heritage.
We desire to be a listening and learning community. We celebrate the search and the asking of heart-felt questions. We believe that faith is not merely about reaching a final goal. It is also about being on the journey. And God, whom we seek, is also our constant companion.
“So then you are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.” (Ephesians 2:19)

We are called to be an inclusive learning community that seeks to journey with others and with God. All are welcome!
